The Adirondack Park was created in 1882 by the NY State Legislature and includes 6 million acres of public and private land.  The Park is part of the Canadian Shield which are relative young mountains born as a result of uplift, followed by etching and carving by glaciers.  The mountains continue to grow at a rate of 1.5 millimeters annually!  The Adirondacks is home to over 130,000 New Yorkers with 105 towns and villages.  It is the most unusual park in the US with its special untouched forest, thousands of ponds and lakes, wilderness trails and spectacular mountains!

The Adirondacks were originally claimed by two Indian nations, the Iroquois and the Algonquins.  The name “Adirondack” is still challenged today; but some say it is an authentic Indian word used by the Iroquois who referred to the Algonquins who were forced to live of tree buds and bark during hard winters.    Other historians say is was derived from a tribe of the St. Lawrence back in the 1500’s and meant “They off the Great Rocks.”

Trees or rocks, come visit for yourself.  You are sure to have a wonderful time!

Located in upstate New York, the most southern point, is approximately 4 1/2 hours from NYC.  From the most northern point of the Park, Montreal is approximate 1 1/2 hour travel time by vehicle.  The Park borders with beautiful Vermont and shares the shores of 100+ mile lake of Lake Champlain.

This region is packed with cultural treasures and hot tourism spots, which makes this region ever popular.  NY State owes approximately 60% of the land and 40% privately owned.  Demand is always naturally up.

Business vitalization is occurring in Plattsburgh at the prior Air Force Base which closed in the 90's.  The City of Plattsburgh has a gem of an airport (12,000' runway for International flights in the future).  Malta, just outside of the Park is anticipating a micro chip plant which will bring in hundreds of jobs.   Greenwich is anticipating a medical facility, and both Ski Mountains (state owned) of Gore and Whiteface receive great exposure and attraction continually.  Old Forge region is well known for its snowmobiling and includes Lapland, a world wide cross country destination.  Paul Smith, while little in size, has our culinary delights know world wide.  Lake George and Lake Placid attractions are a favorite hot spot for our NYC visitors.
